LAKHIMPUR: At a time when the whole nation was busy in observing the 60th Teachers' Day, the Issue-Date victim teachers on Sunday staged State-wide protest demanding the cancel of Issue-Date to regularize their jobs and to resolve their long-pending issues. The Issue-Date victim teachers demonstrate the protest at various parts in Lakhimpur district too.

In this context, All Assam Issue Date Victim Upper Primary School Teachers' Association president Ashok Chetri and secretaries Mahajyoti Sarmah and Fazarul Haque said, "The present Chief Minister-cum-former Education Minister asserted in the teachers appointment letter distribution ceremony held in Guwahati on February 5 of the current year that the Issue Date Victim Schools would be provincialized by bringing them within the ambit of the Provincialisation Act concerned before the issue of Assam Assembly Election Notification. But the issue has still not been resolved, due to which many victim teachers among us are going to retire soon without getting a penny in the name of salary for their dedicated services".

At this, the president and the secretaries of the organization expressed resentment and appealed to the State Government to resolve their long-pending problems by amending the Assam Education (Provincialisation of Services of Teachers and Re-Organisation of Educational Institutions) Act, 2017 in humanitarian ground.
