DHUBRI: The week-long observance of Vigilance Awareness Week at Bongaigaon Refinery that had begun on October 26, 2021 come to an end with the concluding function held at the event hall in presence of a large gathering that was present online.

The function was attended by SP Baruah, Executive Director & Refinery Head, SB Lahkar, CGM (TS, HS&E), George Ishorary, GM I/C(HR) and CK Manchey, DGM (Vigilance) other senior officials and members of IOOA and BGREU at the Event Hall. Dr L R Bishnoi, Special DGP (T&AP), Assam attended the function as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, SP Baruah, ED & RH-BGR, stressed that Indian Oil had streamlined and standardized work procedures for transparency and integrity in corporate functioning. There are written down systems and procedures that discourage the use of discretionary powers.

Since this week also honours the memory of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Baruah urged everyone work towards building a corruption-free society, which will be the best tribute to the great man known for his integrity.

Dr L R Bishnoi, Special DGP (T&AP), Assam shared that to promote integrity and prevent corruption, it was important to ensure a culture of transparency in the areas where it mattered most, i.e. at the heart of the public.

Public participation and awareness of rules and regulations is very important if corruption is to be removed. Government has already put in place systems, mechanisms and machineries and strict laws against corruption. The usefulness of these depends on how they are enforced. Utilizing them to their full potential will surely help in eradicating corruption from our society to a large extent, he said.

During the programme, a special issue of e-Varnali - the in-house magazine of BGR was released by SP Baruah, ED & Refinery Head, in the presence of all dignitaries. Prizes were also distributed to the winners of various competitions held during the Vigilance Awareness Week 2021.
