BONGAIGAON: A sudden flood in Northern part of Bongaigaon and Chirang district occurred due to the water released by Bhutan. As per sources, Bhutan had released water on Friday night from its Kurichu Dam for which Aie River overflowed. Areas like Chesapani, Balajani, Huramara, Jharaguri came under the attack of sudden flood. Several houses were inundated by flood.

As reported by District Information and Public Relation Officer of Bongaigaon district, rescue operations were conducted by SDRF in different places like Huramara, Chesapani etc where the conditions became worst. "Till now total 46 marooned persons have been rescued from Chechapani under Srijangram Revenue circle. Among them 8 are males, 22 are females and 16 are children. Rescue operations are going on at 2 no. Jaraguri under Manikpur circle and Huramara under Srijangram Circle area also. Another rescue team is conducting rescue operation at Checha Pani. As of now 20 persons have been rescued and another one rescue team has arrived at Manikpur 2 no. Jaraguri for rescue operations," DIPRO mentioned. As per sources river dam at Batguri area had collapsed and the water level is increasing in the whole area.
