JAGIROAD: A wild elephant at Papermill Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) on Tuesday caused panic among the students and teachers. The tusker came out from the nearby Sonaikuchi forest reserve in search of food and damaged many trees of the school. Later, the school authority informed the matter to Jagiroad Police Station and with the help of forest officials the tusker was pushed back to the forest.

The Nagaon Paper Mill of Jagiroad have been defunct for years and the entire area is abandoned following which the wild animals frequently come to the site from hillside. The concerned sections of people urged the State government to provide necessary measures for the safety and security of the students. They also called upon the State government to take necessary steps for the smooth running of the school.
