MANGALDAI: Nonagenarian pious lady Hari Priya Hazarika of Janaramchowka Keotpara village of Dahi Mouza in Mangaldai Revenue Circle area is no more. An ideal mother, who despite her rural background has successfully moulded and shaped her five sons and two daughters in the proper way, breathed her last in the early hours on Saturday at the residence of her fourth son at Rajapam of Mangaldai town. She was married to Dandi Ram Hazarika, an ideal agriculture farmer of the locality and son of prominent Freedom Fighter Maya Ram Hazarika. However, after spending quite long years of conjugal life and becoming an ideal couple for their day-to-day simple yet happy and humble lifestyle she, unfortunately, lost her husband in 2017. Several years back she lost her eldest son. Yet she was active in social and religious activities.

On receipt of the news of her demise, a large number of mourners, well-wishers and family members rushed to her residence at Mangaldai and Keotpara village and offered their last homage. District BJP President Amarendra Sarma, AGP activist Naba Kumar Deka, Rajat Sarma of Dahi unit of Asom Sahitya Sabha, Premeswar Deka of Darrang Club, social activist Jagat Chandra Deka expressed deep shock over her demise and offered homage on her mortal remains. The funeral has been performed as per the vedic rituals at Keotpara village on Saturday afternoon in presence of a large number of relatives and well-wishers. She has left behind four sons including businessman of repute Ratul Hazarika of Mangaldai, two daughters, five daughters in-law and a galaxy of grandchildren.
