Woman dies during childbirth; family vandalizes hospital

SILCHAR: Katigorah police detained four persons including two medical practitioners following the death of a pregnant woman at a private nursing home that caused massive chaos. 

The other two arrested persons were the relatives of the deceased who allegedly vandalized the newly-established Central Hospital at Chowrangee point in Katigorah. Sources said that the woman, Ramjana Begum, wife of Ali Haider, was admitted in the Central Hospital where she died in the operation theatre during childbirth. Dr Tasmina, the Resident Medical Officer, and Dr Saptarshi Chakrabarty were attending the patient inside the operation theatre.

News of the death triggered vandalism in the hospital forcing the police to resort to lathi charge to disperse the irate mob. Later, both the doctors were detained by the police following an FIR lodged by the family members of the deceased.
