DIBRUGARH: A day-long workshop on Agri-Clinic and Agri-business Schemes was organized by NABARD Dibrugarh in association with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) at its premise at Kordoibam of Lahoal development block of the district.

Dr. Diganta Sharmah, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Dibrugarh, expressed that this programme is meant for sensitization of the final B.Sc (Agri) students who are perusing their rural agricultural work experience programme under the guidance of KVK Dibrugarh.

Bhaskar Parakhar DDM, Nabard Dibrugarh gave a detail presentation about the pros and cons of the Agri-clinic and Agri-business Scheme of Government of India and urged the participant students to avail this scheme because there is scope to enhance farm income and profit if implemented successfully. Adhiraj Gogoi, Senior Manager of Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, urged the participant agri-student to take the financial assistance and cooperation of this bank for both individual and societal benefit through generation of higher income.

While addressing the participants, Hemchandra Saikia, an expert in Agricultural Economics who is also the Programme Supervisor of the RAWEP of KVK Dibrugarh, opined that there was great scope for robust growth of agri-business in Assam because there are many untapped areas of intervention in agriculture and allied sector right from production, processing, marketing.

Sangeeta Bora Saikia, an expert in Community Science of the Kendra, also spoke on the occasion. Altogether 34 agri-students of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, participated in the day-long workshop.
