JAMUGURIHAT: A one-day workshop on 'Solid Waste Management (SWM), Vermicomposting, and Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) under the Environmental Education Programme (EEP), a programme of the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Government of India, implemented by the Assam Science Technology and Environment Council and organized by the Eco Club of Dakhin Nagsakar HS, was held at the conference hall of the school today with a day-long programme.
A total of ten schools, along with five students from each, a guide teacher, and the headmasters, participated in the workshop. The workshop had four sessions, including an introductory session, a technical session, an interactive session, and a valedictory session. Dimpu Bora, assistant teacher of Borgang HS, graced the workshop as a resource person and delivered his lecture on solid waste management. Similarly, Aditya Bora, assistant teacher of Fakaruddin Ali Ahmed HS, attended the technical session as a resource person who delivered a lecture on vermicomposting and its usefulness. On the other hand, Asim Akhtar, another resource person, delivered a lecture on rainwater harvesting. Chandan Upadhyaya, President of the SMDC, graced the occasion as a chief guest.
The valedictory session was held with Ballav Chapagain, Headmaster of Dakhin Nagsankar HS, in the chair. The session was attended by Labanya Devi, headmistress of Nagsankar HS; Tamijuddin Ahmed, headmaster of Balidonga Adarsha HS; Krishna Chetry, headmaster of Pub Sootea HS; Kushal Nath, headmaster of Balijuri HS; and Ganga Dhakal, social worker, besides teachers of the school, parents, and guardians who attended the event. All the proceedings of the sessions were conducted by Anjan Baskota, assistant teacher of the school.
