TANGLA: Along with the rest of the state, the World Sickle Cell Day was observed in various parts of Udalguri district with a special programme organized by the District Health Department at Udalguri Civil Hospital in Udalguri on Thursday. The event was organized by the District Health Society, Udalguri. During the event which was attended by the Joint Director of the Health Services, Udalguri, Dr N Binoy Singh, a special awareness session on the sickle cell disease was held wherein Dr Sujoy Karmakar addressed the gathering on the symptoms, causes, and prevention of sickle cell disease, raising awareness among the attendees. Dr BK Sharma highlighted the impact of the disease on children, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and care. Superintendent of Udalguri Civil Hospital Dr Jitendra Kumar Saharia provided insights into the treatment options available for sickle cell disease and encouraged people to seek timely medical help. Pertinently, World Sickle Cell Day was also observed at various other health institutions and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the district, with awareness activities aimed at educating the public about the disease.
