LAKHIMPUR: COVID-19 took away the life of one more youth in Lakhimpur district on Wednesday. He has been identified as Kukil Dutta, son of Hemchandra Dutta, resident of Bahadurchuk village near North Lakhimpur town. Kukil Dutta breathed his last at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh on Wednesday morning. He was an employee of the Judicial Department of the district. The condition of his younger sister is also critical and she has been shifted to Guwahati for advanced treatment.

On the other hand, a total of 128 fresh cases were detected in the district on Wednesday as per the result of Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test. Out of them 122 people of the district were found to be positive for COVID-19 as per RAT while 6 cases were detected as per RTPCR Test result, reported AMCH, Dibrugarh.

On this day, the District Health Department conducted the RAT upon 4,109 persons in eight COVID-19 Test Centres across the district. Out of them, the detected cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (2), Dhalpur BPHC (9), Bihpuriya BPHC (11), Naoboicha BPHC (16), Boginadi BPHC (47), Ghilamora BPHC (4), Dhakuakhana BPHC (7) and Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (26). On this day, the Health Department of the district registered 115 per cent achievement in conducting the RAT in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure 3430.

With these fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district has surged to 10,897 since April 4 of the last year. Out of them, 9,583 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home quarantine while 1,220 are active cases. On Wednesday, 24 recovered patients were discharged from institutional isolation while 105 recovered patients were discharged from home isolation. A total of 2,748 people of the district tested positive for COVID-19 during the second wave of the contagion since April 1 of the current year. Out of them, 33 people succumbed to the pandemic, raising the overall tally of COVID-19 fatalities of the district to 82.
