BAKSA: A youth who had been missing since the past 11 days, was found hanging on the top of a hill along the Indo-Bhutan border near Bogajuli forest reserve in Tamulpur subdivision in the district of Baksa.

The deceased person has been identified as Bishnu Magar (22) of Menoka Tea Estate. He had been missing on June 27. On Wednesday evening, his body was found by some local people on the hill top near Bogajuli village in a semi-decomposed state.

Reportedly, the 22-year old youth had gone to meet his girlfriend in the Menoka Tea Garden of Darangamela and since then no one had heard from him. There have been claims that the youth had gone to meet his girlfriend secretly on the night of June 27. However, the girl's family found out about it and lashed out at Bishnu. Reportedly, they snatched his mobile phone and warned him to go away. But Bishnu never reached his home. His family lodged an FIR at Kumarikata Police outpost.

The Assam Police carried out an investigation and recovered Bishnu's body on Wednesday evening after being informed by the local people. The deceased's family and All Assam Tea Garden Students' Union have claimed it to be a pre-planned murder which had been given the look of a suicide. They have demanded severe punishment for the people responsible for the death of Bishnu. The police, so far, have arrested four youths on the basis of suspicion. They are Rajdeep Das, Bhakta Gaur, Bicky Deori and Juhal Sarkar.

A team of senior officers of Assam Police on Thursday investigated the spot where the deceased's body was found hanging. Further investigation is going on to find out whether it was a suicide or a murder.
