Zubeen Garg threatened with beer bottles by miscreants in Guwahati; FIR filed

Guwahati: In a shocking incident, Assam's singing sensation Zubeen Garg was abused by unidentified miscreants on Thursday (August 13) in Guwahati city's Ganeshmandir area.

The singing sensation has now filed a complaint at the Dispur police station. As per Zubeen's FIR, a copy of which is available with The Sentinel Digital, he was headed towards his residence at 'Synergy Apartments' in the city from a studio at Zoo Road around 12:40 am on Thursday when a vehicle bearing registration number AS-01-BY-0675 overtook his vehicle near the Ganeshmandir area.

At least 6 people were traveling in the vehicle during curfew hours in the city, Zubeen stated. These people stepped out of their vehicle and proceeded to verbally abuse the musician. They made derogatory remarks against the star with beer bottles in hand.

"When I tried to defend they got aggressive and molested me with unparliamentary words", Zubeen wrote in his complaint.

Zubeen Garg was accompanied by his personal bodyguard and 2 PSOs provided by the state government for his protection.

This comes days after Nayan Nivir Baishya, a youth hailing from Mukalmua in Nalbari district of Assam, has landed in the proverbial soup after posting a host of obscene and objectionable posts against youth icon Zubeen Garg and his wife Garima.

A youth has been arrested by the police for allegedly threatening popular singer Zubeen Garg and his wife. As per reports, one Nayan Nivir Baishya of Nalbari's Mukalmua has recently posted a number of updates on Facebook threatening to kill the singer on September 2.

This comes against the backdrop of Assam BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass claiming that popular singers Zubeen Garg and Bipin Chaudang, who once led the agitation against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act, are now more amenable to talks with the saffron party. Dass has also hinted that the singers would join the ruling BJP party ahead of the crucial polls in 2021.
