Silchar: The Assam Rifles are known to be the 'Sentinels of the Northeast'. They not only ensure territorial integrity and security but also contribute immensely towards the development of this part of this region.

Kadamtala Battalion as part of 22 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspectorate General of Assam Rifles (East) organized a sports meet at P.S.E School at Jenamghat. Jenamghat is a remote and secluded village in the Dima Hasao district of Assam which lacks the basic facilities like electricity and medical. The people of the area are extremely poor and uneducated.

Assam Rifles with its motto of 'Friends of the hill people' extended its help to a village school in organizing its sports meet on Wednesday. The students actively participated in various competitions such as football, tug of war, sack race etc. A total of 250 students from the school along with their parents and governing bodies of all the nearby villages attended the event. Prizes were distributed to the winning team. The school authorities expressed their gratitude to Assam Rifles for taking initiative in organizing the meet.
