Silchar: Buoyed up by the victory in Panchayat and Lok Sabha polls, Cachar district committee of BJP is all set to make the party all inclusive and comprehensive. The spirit of buoyancy is also due to the fact that the party has won back both the Parliamentary seats of Silchar and Karimganj. From July 6, intensive drive will be made for enrolment of primary members from each mandal of the district. This was stated by Kanad Purkayastha, general secretary of Cachar district committee, at a workshop attended by leaders and workers held at Narsingpur mandal of Dholai block presided over by Shashanka Kumar Paul on Thursday. Purkayastha said, “Our aim is to cover all and reach all, irrespective of caste, creed and community.”

The results of the last Parliamentary polls have shown Muslims who constitute 39% of the electorates in Cachar have voted in favour of BJP candidate on Silchar seat. Even in the Muslim majority Karimganj constituency, BJP won comfortably. Purkayastha said, “BJP is no more untouchable, but all embracing.” He reminded BJP with 11 crore plus membership is the largest party in the world. Narendra Modi today is the most popular Prime Minister with massive mandate of the largest democratic country. “This has taken our party to the newer height of success,” pointed out Purkayastha.

Presently, the membership of the party is 2.20 lakh. This has to be taken to 5 lakh, Purkayastha said. Concerted and sustained campaign has to be carried out to spread the ideology of the party among all sections of people. In order to reach the target set for membership, leaders and workers of all rank and file have to join hands together and work with determination and dedication, Kanad Purkayastha said. It is this commitment and hard work, as he pointed out, which has brought victory. But victory should not make us complacent. Rather, it should encourage and inspire us to strive hard and more. The drive for primary membership will conclude on July 11.
