Silchar: Three district BJP committees of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi have thrown in their phalanx to pull a mammoth crowd for the public meeting to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, just 12 hours away from now, which as Dr Rajdeep Roy, state spokesperson claimed, will be the biggest ever show of strength and mass support. In fact, the thrust is on Cachar BJP and its president Kaushik Rai has been proactive to see that arrangements are foolproof and the congregation is accommodated with all decency and decorum.

He has also to oversee how preparations are given the finishing touch at Ramnagar, the venue of the meeting. In order to ensure there is no lapse, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, NEDA convener, as well as other ministers, besides state in-charge Mahendra Singh, BJP general secretary Ram Madhab, state president Ranjit Dass and a host of VIPs have reached here today for an on the spot study of the arrangements so far made. Cachar BJP leaders and workers from the grass root level have mobilized all resources to achieve the maximum target of attendance at the mega event.

BJP district headquarters here is humming and buzzing with streams of workers and leaders with their allegiance to various wings of the party which include Yuva Morcha and Mahila Morcha who have their own game plan to add grist to pull the maximum crowd. Kaberi Purkayastha, a frontline leader of Mahila Morcha, looked all confident to bring in as many as female supporters to make the meeting a grand and mammoth success. Vehicles of all sorts, public and private, will be put in service to bring the supporters and workers from every nook and corner of the valley.

The Prime Minister, according to information, will reach here by special air force plane after addressing a public meeting at Imphal (East). Though the BJP district committee publicity cell has been campaigning through public address system that the Prime Minister will be at the meeting ground by 12 noon, it is not expected to begin before 1 pm. The district administration, civil and police, has taken all precautionary security measures in and around the town as well as across the sensitive and high sensitive areas.

Along with paramilitary forces, Assam police has also been put on maximum preparedness and alert. All entry and exit points of the district have been brought under close surveillance. At the bordering points of Manipur and Mizoram, vehicles are thoroughly being scanned and suspect persons subjected to interrogation. The most sensitive NH 37 connecting the valley with Manipur is in particular under close watch.
