Swab samples of attendees of Guwahati Athgaon Mosque congregation from Hailakandi test negative

Hailakandi: All the swab results of the 10 attendees of Guwahati Athgaon Kabarastan Mosque religious congregation from Hailakandi district tested negative.

Revealing the information, Joint Director, Health Services, Dr.Ramesh Chandra Dwivedy said the swab results of all the 10 persons from Hailakandi who attended the religious congregation at Athgaon Kabarastan Mosque in Guwahati, received from the Silchar Medical College and Hospital turned out to be negative. “It’s a great sigh of relief for all of us,” said Dr Dwivedy.

Meanwhile a letter mailed by DCP North, Delhi Police, Monika Bhardwaj to SP, Hailakandi stated that a COVID patient named Liquat Ali, a resident of Kapnar Park village, PO Kalibari, Tehsil Algapur of Hailakandi district of Assam has been found in Delhi. The IPS officer stated that it verified the information received from the Special Branch. She also asked Hailakandi SP to make necessary verification at his end ‘as there is a huge possibility that he may have infected his family members and contacts’. On getting the information from the police administration, health authorities here swung into action on Thursday evening.

Dr. Dwivedy disclosed that Ali had gone to Delhi on February 22. He ruled out the possibility of the family members of Ali getting infected as he had gone to Delhi almost two months ago. He further said surveillance team under the health department had visited Ali’s residence to inquire about the health status of his family members twice on Thursday and Friday. “We inquired about the health condition of the family members and close contacts and found them in fine fettle,” added Dr Dwivedy.

Hailakandi is one of the seven districts of Assam which falls under non-hotspot category, the other districts being Cachar, Karimganj, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Lakhimpur and South Salmara-Mankachar.
