Coronavirus update: All bars and pubs in Guwahati to stay shut until March 31

GUWAHATI: To prevent the spread of coronavirus, Government of Assam has ordered all ‘Bars and Pubs’ in Guwahati to stay shut until March 31.

"All IMFL "ON" shops to remain closed upto 31st March, 2020 with immediate effect and until further orders,” according to a notification order from EXCOM, Assam.

For a fact, as a part of Covid19 preventive measures, the Assam government has ordered all the cinema halls, gymnasiums and swimming pools in the state to close till March 29.

The state government has also imposed restrictions on public gathering to check the disaster. Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna has said that only awareness and alertness could prevent infection of the coronavirus. However, he appealed all people to not panic. Claiming that the state government has taken all kind of precautionary measures to check the disaster, the chief secretary informed that already a state level nodal officer has been appointed to check the menace. “People should not be panic. Government has taken all necessary preventive measures. All should remain alert.”, he said, adding that no coronavirus positive case is detected in the state so far. Earlier, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had announced that he would not take part in any public meeting till March 31 and appealed all people to remain alert. He also said that only awareness and alertness could prevent this dreaded disease. Meanwhile, the Centre had declared the Covid19 as a ‘notified disaster’ in the country.

In order to prevent any accidental spread of COVID-19 virus, the Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden will remain close for visitors till March 29. All the tiger reserves, National Parks and Sanctuaries of the state will remain close from today to March 29. Meanwhile, all permissions granted for film shooting, research etc have also been suspended till the above mentioned date. The order was issued by the Assam Government with a view to arrest spread of the dreaded virus.
