COVID-19 update: Meghalaya police makes PPEs, masks; establishes isolation units

MEGHALAYA: Meghalaya police has made PPEs and masks to deal with shortage of equipment amid COVID-19 pandemic. In several police battalions, isolation units have been set up.

In addition to this, makeshift tents have also been set up by police units.

It is important to note that, Meghalaya government has said that it is going to relax lockdown restrictions from April 15 onwards.

Government offices will start to function. Vehicles will be allowed on the road. Agricultural activities will resume. However, private business places will remain shut.

Additionally, Rs 700 will be paid to daily wage earners who were unemployed during the time the lockdown was in place.

The state has not reported any coronavirus positive case so far.

For a fact, Meghalaya Govt has ordered liquor to be home delivered amid lockdown.

According to an official order, “Meghalaya government has approved home delivery of liquor on health grounds strictly against medical prescriptions issued by the registered medical practitioner…Bonded warehouses may be allowed to sell and provide home delivery of liquor as a special case with immediate effect up to 14th April, 2020 (midnight) until further orders to customers who are 21 years old and above.”

Customers will have to log in and upload prescription for the delivery. The bonded warehouse will then have to get approval from the officer in charge to deliver the same to the customer after all dues are cleared.
