IMD Forecasts Rain, Thunderstorms In Northeast India Till March 26

GUWAHATI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory predicting light to moderate rainfall in Dibrugarh and other parts of Northeast India from March 22 to March 26. During this period, thunderstorms and lightning are expected, with a possibility of gusty winds in some regions.

According to the IMD forecast, isolated showers may occur in Manipur and Mizoram, while widespread rain is expected in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura on March 22 and 23. Dibrugarh is also likely to witness intermittent rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, particularly during the weekend.

Additionally, the IMD issued a warning about heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh on March 22. Furthermore, on March 23, gusty winds ranging from 30 to 40 km/h are predicted in parts of Assam, including Dibrugarh, which could disrupt daily activities and transport.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, especially during thunderstorms and windy conditions. Farmers and commuters have also been urged to stay updated with the latest weather reports and plan their activities accordingly. Authorities are monitoring the situation and may issue further advisories if the weather intensifies in the coming days.

Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that Northeast India is likely to experience rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds starting March 11.
