New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday forecasted heavy rainfall at the edges of the northeastern states of India in the coming five days at a stretch.

The weather framework also provided a yellow awareness all over the northeast for Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday of this week. Apart from the 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm rain showers, thunderstorms and lightning are likely to occur in the northeastern states like Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on August 23, 26, and 27.

Additionally, Arunachal Pradesh is also expected to witness massive rainfall on Friday and Saturday.

"Fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Arunachal Pradesh on 23rd, 26th & 27th; Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during next 5 days," IMD said in an official statement.

Despite the forecasted rainstorm, the daytime temperature degree across the northeast is probable to stay above normal. However, rainfall account recorded during the monsoon season till now has continued to exist lower than average.

Earlier in July 2022, the IMD department predicted that fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfalls would very likely occur between 25th-29th July 2022 across the Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

The weather body also issued a yellow alert with respect to these predictions in the whole northeastern area requesting the natives to be aware of the local weather condition.

The weather body also notified them of the probable mudslides, landslides, and thunderstorms in certain regions of India's northeast.
