GUWAHATI: A warning from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that in isolated areas of the North Eastern Region, that is Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, dense fog conditions may continue to prevail. These are expected to prevail during nighttime and early morning until February 2, 2025.
The IMD warned that the dense fog might lead to a very low level of visibility and may pose serious troubles to travelers and commuters in the region. Local residents are asked to be vigilant while driving and stay informed about the weather updates.
Apart from the fog, scattered light to moderate rain is likely in Arunachal Pradesh till February 2. Assam, Nagaland, and the Sub-Himalayan districts of West Bengal and Sikkim can experience light to moderate rain on February 1 as well. These rains will indeed bring much-needed relief from dry weather but might also cause localised problems.
The situation is closely monitored, and the IMD will issue updates as needed. Local authorities should remain vigilant and take necessary steps to ensure public safety in this adverse condition. The people are requested to remain vigilant and prepared for the possible effects of the prevailing weather pattern in the area.
