TINSUKIA: A 10-day long Fencing Coaching Camp kicked off at Women's College Tinsukia on Monday which was organised jointly by District Sports Authority, Anirban Fencing Academy and the college authority. Inaugurating the camp Lakshya Konwar, Member Secretary, Directorate of Sports and Your Welfare, Assam elaborated upon various initiatives adopted by the Sonowal led government to create a comprehensive sports infrastructure in the entire State. He has urged upon the students to embrace sports as a serious career option. He also has assured the college authority of financial help to create a State-of the-art fencing infrastructure at the college. The Principal Dr. Rajib Bordoloi, in his welcome address has thanked the chief guest Konwar for his time to be a part of the program. He also has given a brief account of initiatives taken by the college to popularize this international sport among the students of the region. The District Sports Officer Pranjal Dehingia, the main motivatorof holding such camp offered vote of thanks. After formal inauguration, the guests have enjoyed various fencing events demonstrated by fencers of Women's College. The camp will continue till January 15.
