GUWAHATI: All Assam Taekwondo Association (AATA) had planned to provide more facilities to the upcoming players in the coming days. As a part of their plan the association would upgrade its academy situated at the RG Baruah sports complex and would also invite foreign coaches to train the players.

Disclosing the news to the media persons the secretary of the All Assam Taekwondo Association Hiranya Saikia, who recently elected as the vice president of the Taekwondo Federation of India, said, "New committee of Taekwondo Federation of India took charge recently and now you will witness a lot of changes in the games and players will also get various facilities when they will participate in national as well as international meets. Keeping in mind we have planned to upgrade our academy which is situated at the RG Baruah Sports complex and will also invite foreign coaches to train our promising players."

It may be mentioned here that Taekwondo Federation of India was not a recognized National Sports Federation earlier and the players suffered a lot at the time of participating in various international meets.

Saikia also added that All Assam Taekwondo Association had planned to bring Asian Taekwondo Championship to Guwahati. "If everything goes as per plan the meet will be held in the city in 2024," Saikia said.
