GUWAHATI: Assam bowed out from Santosh trophy after they were held 2-2 draw by Arunachal Pradesh at Tripura today. It was the second game for Assam in the competition and they just managed to earn a single point.

Assam took 2-0 led in the first half and looked in a very good position during the lemon break. Arjun Mardi scored the first goal while Mithinga Narzary increased the margin. However, Arunachal Pradesh returned both the goals in the second half.

Talking to The Sentinel over the telephone the chief coach of Assam Bidhan Das said, “We have missed a few close chances otherwise it could be a different story.” He is also not satisfied with the performance of match referee. “We have denied a genuine penalty in the game,” said Das.

In the other match of the same group Mizoram beat host Tripura 2-0 and reached close to book a berth in the next round.
