GUWAHATI: The secretary of the Assam Cricket Association Devajit Saikia lauded the effort of the District Sports Association (DSA) Silchar for their planned and meticulous approach of developing necessary infrastructure for betterment of sports in the region.

Attending as the chief guest for inauguration of 42 bedded air conditioned players hostel at the Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium premises on Saturday Saikia appreciated Silchar DSA's efforts and said that it had developed a lot on its own and is far ahead of many district associations of the state. The players' hostel was funded by two leading citizens of Silchar, Dr Siddhartha Bhattacharjee and Umesh Sarda.

Saikia also informed the gathering that the ACA would set up an indoor enclosure for turf wickets in Silchar which will help the players to practice even during rainy seasons.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Porikshit Dutta, vice president, Assam Cricket Association, Saibal Sengupta, member, Apex Council, Assam Cricket Association, president and general secretary of the DSA, Silchar Babul Hore and Bijendra Singh respectively.
