Bhagyabati, Pwilao win gold At Women’s National Boxing Championships

GUWAHATI: Good day for Assam as two of its boxers won gold in the 4th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships at the Mundayad Indoor Stadium in Kannur today, both the boxers represented Railway in the competition. Bhagyabati Kachari, who participated in the 81kg category, won gold defeating Shaily Singh 5-0 in the final.

The other gold was won by Pwilao Basumatary in 64 kg. The final, where she met her statemate Ankushita Boro, was well contested. The two fought tooth and nail and gave their all with the Cologne World Cup silver medallist Basumatary bringing her experience to edge the former youth world champion 3-2 in the end.
