CM Gao Panchyat Level Sports meet begins at SAI Sports complex in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister’s Gao Panchyat Level Sports Meet got underway at the SAI Sports complex here today. The competition was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

Altogether 1170 athletes from 30 districts are taking part in the meet and they will compete in two disciplines-football and Athletics.

Addressing the gathering at the SAI Sports complex during the inaugural function this evening Chief Minister Sonowal said: “The main aim to organize this competition is to identify the talent which is spread every nook and corner of the state.” He also added: Sports is an integral part of society like education and cultural activities. Only that society becomes stronger which patronizes these three things equally.”

The inaugural function was also attended by the Principal Secretary (Sports) Avinash Joshi, Secretary of AOA Lakhya Konwar, Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Dharma Kanta Mili and several former international players.
