Removal of helipad on cricket pitches begins after CM's initiative

GUWAHATI: Sports activities may soon return into the Zhagrapara Stadium, Dhubri after Dhubri District Administration has started to remove the helipad from the ground. The helipad was constructed on the cricket pitches.
A team of Assam Cricket Association, led by its secretary Devajit Saikia, recently visited the stadium and expressed shock at witnessing a helipad on the top of the cricket pitches and a road inside the ground. They even decided to bring the matter to the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal's notice.
Later with an initiative from the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal the work to remove helipad from the ground started yesterday. It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister himself is on a mission to create and upgrade sports infrastructure in the State and also monitoring the different development works on regular basis.
In a release from the Assam Cricket Association the President Romen Dutta and Secretary Devajit Saikia expressed their deep gratitude to Sonowal for his prompt and necessary steps towards dismantling the helipad.
