Suresh Raina invites Hima Das to perform her celebration style

GUWAHATI: Her special pose after winning the gold medal at Jakarta Asiad is still in the mind of many sports lovers of the country. One of them is former member of Team India Suresh Raina. The left handed batsman today invited Hima to join him during his next visit in Guwahati and he would celebrate the moment once again in Hima's style.

Hima, a new face at the Jakarta Asian Games, mesmerized the sports lovers with her stunning performance in the track winning three medals two of which were gold. She celebrated those medal winning moments with a very special style. Raina admitted it was one of the best celebrations that he has ever seen from an athlete.

Both Raina and Hima today interacted in instagram live session in the afternoon. During the conversation Hima invited southpaw to visit Assam and witness the beauty of the State. Raina instantly accepted the invitation and said, "Assam is one of my favourite places to visit. I made my Ranji Trophy debut there and later also visited Guwahati a couple of occasions to play matches. But this time have a very special reason. I am very much impressed your style of celebration at Jakarta during Asiad. I have watched the moment several occasions in internet and now want to make a repeat of it with you in Guwahati."

Raina later requested Hima to do the act once again and she performed instantly.

The interaction lasted nearly 45 minutes and it covered vast topics which included early days, cricket, food, music, movie etc of both the sportpersons.

The sprint star of India today took just a few seconds to reply when Raina asked about her favorite IPL outfit. "My favourite team is Chennai Super Kings. Don't think I am taking the name of this outfit because you are the member of it. It's the team of 'Dhoni bhai'. But my role model is Sachin Tendulkar," said Hima.

Raina is very popular in his circuit for his ability to sing and Hima took the opportunity and requested him to sing a few lines. The athlete got good support from Sreesanth, the former teammate of Raina who joined them later. After refusal for a couple of times Raina finally sang two lines from a hit Hindi song- "Kuch toh log kahenge…." Earlier Hima helped Raina to sing a very popular Assamese song, "Phool Phulise Boxontor ……" Meanwhile Raina sends Bihu wishes to the people of Assam.

The athlete today admitted that Akshay Kumar and Amir Khan are her favourite Bollywood actors and she likes to watch their movies. Among the old films Hima's most favourite is 70's blockbuster 'Sholay'.

During the conversation the Dhing Express also praised the role of Assam Government on the development of sports in the State. "Our government and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who was also a good cricketer, are giving huge priority to develop sports in the State. Our central government and sports minister Kiren Rijeju too doing great job for the sportspersons of the country."

Commenting on the huge reception that was given to her after returned from Asiad the new sensation in Indian sports said, "I never expected such crowds. The celebration was huge. Nearly 10-15 thousand people were present outside the LGBI airport to receive me. It's really a great honour."

Speaking on a few unforgettable moments of her career Hima said: "There are many but one is very special which I can't forget. It was the moment when 'adidas' handed over to me special shows that featured my name. I can still remember the moment when my early days father gave me a pair of very ordinary running shoes and I wrote the name of 'adidas 'on it. But when I got the shoes from my sponsor where my name was mentioned I was speechless."

Commenting on the ongoing lockdown Hima said, "Lockdown has made me more dedicated and taught me that we can survive without eating outside."
