GUWAHATI: The next preparatory camp for the Indian probable for U-17 Women World cup will likely to be held in Goa. However the All India Football Federation (AIFF) is waiting for the further directives from the Ministry of Youth Affair of Sports before the date of the camp is finalized.

U-17 Women World Cup, which was supposed to be held in November, was postponed because of COVID-19 pandemic. FIFA recently announced fresh date of the competition and will now start from February 17. The final is slated for March 7. Guwahati along with four other cities will host the matches.

A source from the Assam Football Association, who is also closed to the All India Football Federation, said that a detail discussion on the preparation of the national team for the competition was held in the AIFF Women's Committee meeting through video conference today. The top officials of the AIFF informed the meeting that though due to lockdown the players are now at their home but Federation is in touch with the probable of the U-17 world Cup team. The technical staffs are conducting online fitness sessions, and even theoretical ones. All of the players have been provided individual schedules and are being monitored regularly.

The source added: 'Still eight months are left before the tournament begins and we are capable to complete our entire preparation before February. We will begin the remaining part of the preparation immediately once we receive green signal from the State Government.'

It may be mentioned here that Guwahati will host the opening match of the championship on February 17, 2021.
