NEW DELHI: Bhaichung Bhutia, the former Indian football player, has voiced grave concerns about the state of affairs in Manipur and called on the central and state governments to cooperate with local populations in order to bring about peace.

Speaking to the media, Bhutia said, "Whatever is happening in Manipur is very unfortunate. As a northeastern, it hurts us. We only hope and pray for the peace to come over. Manipur is such a beautiful state. It has got a huge tourism potential. I hope the state and central government work together with the community and bring back peace because that is the most important thing."

The opposition remains persistent in calling for a floor discussion on the Manipur situation, the Adani problem, and the violence in Sambhal. On November 25, the winter Parliament's first session began, but because of interruptions, both Houses were adjourned somewhat early. The winter session is scheduled to conclude on December 20.

Assam Rifles carried out massive area domination and sanitisation operations on December 1st of this year in order to maintain peace, stability, and security in the Jiribam district.

These operations were intended to neutralise threats, increase vigilance, and guarantee the protection of local residents in the face of the region's ongoing problems. On directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the National Investigation Agency filed two further cases and one case related to the incident in Jiribam earlier in November.
