
IMPHAL: In a praiseworthy operation, Churachandpur police in Manipur have rescued three truck drivers from Assam who had been abducted by unidentified masked men for ransom. The incident took place on January 31 around 10 PM in Songpi village while the victims were en route to deliver cement to Churachandpur.
The rescued individuals have been identified as Suhel Alam Talukdar, 26, son of Bilaluddin Talukdar from Dholai, Hailakandi; Manjurul Alom Barbhuiya, 27, son of Hamit Ahamed Barbhuiya, also from Dholai; and Jamir Uddin, 37, son of Ekram Ali from Dalgram, Karimganj. After the kidnapping, Superintendent of Police Prakhar Pandey confirmed that a suo motu case was registered, which initiated an extensive search operation.
Utilizing the inputs of intelligence, the police traced the whereabouts of the hostages in Tuibong, Churachandpur, and rescued them successfully on February 1 at around 1:50 PM. The operation was conducted safely in a manner that secured the safety of the drivers, and they were in good health after the ordeal.
Law enforcement is currently on the hunt to identify and apprehend the kidnappers. The success of this rescue demonstrates the police's commitment to community protection and combating the growing trend of ransom kidnappings. The authorities are also taking measures to enhance security in order to avoid such incidents from happening again, not only to protect transporters but also the local residents.
