
IMPHAL: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has assured the people that the Manipur Government, in collaboration with the army and central forces, is making all efforts to locate and rescue 56-year-old Laishram Kamalbabu who went missing from the campus of the GOC, 57 Mountain Division.
The Chief Minister said, "Kamalbabu was present in the army campus and this has been corroborated by his signature in the entry register." Stressing the urgency of the matter, Singh said, "We have asked the GOC officials of the 57 Mountain Division to lead the search and rescue efforts. The army has been invited to take responsibility and inform about his whereabouts.
To address public concerns, Singh, along with the Social Welfare Minister and Sekmai AC MLA Heikham Dingo Singh, met the members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in reaction to Kamalbabu's disappearance. The JAC presented a memorandum outlining the demands, mainly to speed up the location and rescue of the missing person during the meeting.
The Chief Minister reassured the public, "We are treating this matter with utmost seriousness and have pressed the relevant authorities to extend their full support in the rescue efforts. We appeal to the public to remain calm as we pursue all possible measures to locate him."
The disappearance of Laishram Kamalbabu has caused widespread concern and demands for accountability. Public calls for transparency and swift action from the army underline the growing urgency to resolve the case.
