Manipur CM N Biren Singh presents deficit Budget of Rs 21,224 crore

IMPHAL: Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh on Friday presented a deficit budget of 21,224 crore rupees for the fiscal year 2020 -21 on the first day of the Budget Session in the State Assembly. It shows a deficit of 1,363 crore rupees.

Presenting the budget in the house, the Chief Minister, who also holds the finance portfolio said his government’s policies are people-oriented and decisions are based on feedback from the people. Singh said his government is giving top priorities in the fields of education, tourism and conservation of environment, forests & wildlife. Providing safe drinking water and proper sanitation are also other priority areas of his government, he added.

The Chief Minister said the government has taken great strides to bridge the divide between valley and hill areas of the state. He also informed the House that the long-awaited Imphal-Mandalay (in Myanmar) flight is likely to be introduced this year which will help boost in medical tourism.
