
IMPHAL: The security forces have successfully dismantled an illegal bunker at Ponlen, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Kangchup Police Station in Manipur's Kangpokpi district on Thursday. The operation was part of a larger drive to tackle and curb illegal operations in the area.
After the dismantling, the remains of the bunker were torched, marking a decisive move against illegal operations that have been a source of concern for local authorities.
During a series of coordinated search operations in Manipur, security forces recovered a total of 12 firearms, ammunition and other military equipments from Jiribam, Imphal West and Bishnupur districts.
At Imphal West, a raid at an empty quarter in the Langol Housing Complex yielded two Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs) with magazines holding 20 rounds each and two INSAS rifles, two SMG carbines, eight bulletproof plates, seven bulletproof vests, camouflage attire and other military equipment.
During the same time, security personnel recovered three INSAS rifles, two SLRs, and some magazines from a search operation in Chingdong Leikai under Jiribam district.
16 rounds of .303 ammunition and a 12-bore cartridge were seized along with a .303 rifle with a magazine from the hill range of Haotak Awang Leikai, under Kumbi Police Station in Bishnupur district.
These operations reflect the ongoing commitment of security forces to intensify efforts in curbing illegal activities and recovering arms from vulnerable areas across the state.
