Manipur: Indian Army Rescues Eight Civilians After Truck Accident in Kangpokpi

KANGPOKPI: The Indian Army has reportedly rescued eight civilians involved in a road accident in Kangpokpi district. The accident occurred near Khunku Naga village in the Leimakhong area late Monday, according to the PRO Defence.

The chief of Henjang village reported that a truck carrying eight people had lost control and plunged into a deep gorge near Khunku Naga village, the statement said.

An army rescue team was promptly dispatched to the accident site, where the injured civilians were rescued and taken to a military hospital. There, they received first aid and trauma care from army doctors, the PRO stated in a statement released on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, previous month, a joyful picnic outing took a tragic turn for a group of junior doctors when their vehicle met with a serious accident on the national highway in Assam.

The incident occurred in Upper Assam's Bokakhat on the evening of December 27, as three junior female doctors from Jorhat Medical College and Hospital were returning from a picnic and traveling towards Dergaon.

The doctors' vehicle collided with a truck, leaving all three injured. The accident caused chaos on the highway, with bystanders rushing to help the victims.

In a fortunate turn of events, Assam Minister Atul Bora was traveling along the same route when the accident took place. Upon witnessing the distressing scene, he stopped his convoy and provided immediate assistance. The minister personally ensured that the injured doctors were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical care.
