IMPHAL: The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) organised a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in Imphal on May 9 to express its firm support for the Indian Armed Forces engaged in Operation Sindoor. The march was held in response to the recent wave of terrorism, the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Covering a distance of around 4 kilometres, the rally began and concluded at Congress Bhavan, passing through North AOC in a symbolic route. Senior Congress leaders, including former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, AICC member Gaikhangam, MPCC President Keisham Meghachandra, and former MP Thokchom Meinya, led the procession. A large number of party workers and citizens joined the march, proudly waving the national tricolour to express unity and national pride.
Addressing participants, Okram Ibobi Singh condemned the recent acts of terror and extended full support to the armed forces. “The incident at Pahalgam was a barbaric act. Innocent lives have been lost at the hands of terrorists operating from across the border. This fight is not against the ordinary people of Pakistan, but against the extremist forces that threaten our country. We stand solidly behind our brave soldiers,” he said.
Participants carried the Indian National Flag as they moved through the streets of the city, underscoring public support for the armed forces in these trying times.
