

IMPHAL: In a decisive operation against insurgent groups, Manipur Police raided the hideout of the banned National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM) at Tellou Makha Leikai under Lamlai Police Station jurisdiction. During the operation, seven individuals connected with extortion and arms trafficking activities were arrested.
The arrested militants are identified as Moirangthem Somokanta Singh (26), Thongam Iboton Singh (34), Heisanam Rohit Meitei (32), Yaikhom Inao Singh (20), Nameirakpam Jotin Meitei (33), Ningthoujam Premkumar Singh (32), and Hemam John Singh (33).
In the operation, the security forces have seized a huge quantity of arms. These included one A1 assault rifle with a magazine and 15 live rounds, one AK-47 rifle with a magazine and 13 live rounds, two INSAS rifles with magazines and 12 live rounds, two Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs) with magazines and 30 live rounds, and five bulletproof jackets.
This operation falls under broader attempts by law enforcement agencies to counter insurgent activities and networks operating underground in Manipur. The authorities will continue to pursue investigations further to identify the associates and establish operational linkages of NRFM. The raid was successful because it signifies commitment by security forces toward bringing peace and stability within that region.
