
IMPHAL: Security forces in Manipur executed a series of operations that resulted in the arrest of several militants affiliated with various underground organizations.
In Bishnupur district, two members of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) were apprehended in Wangoo Sabal, under the jurisdiction of Kumbi Police Station. The arrested individuals were identified as Pukhrambam Bimol Singh, also known as Inaobi (39), and Athokpam Surchandra Singh, who goes by Khaba or Rabichandra (42).
In a separate operation in Imphal West district, Manipur Police detained two cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War Group) or KCP(PWG) at Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai.
The detained militants, Yambem Gulshan, alias Naoba (30), and Philem Jenan Singh (32), are allegedly involved in extortion activities against the public and local businesses. Security personnel seized four No. 36 HE grenades without detonators and two mobile phones from their possession.
Besides, the security personnel detained an active worker of the United People's Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) in Keirao Wangkhem, Ngariyan Chingkhong, under the jurisdiction of Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district.
The militant, Ningombam Bonbon Singh alias Shamu (45), was allegedly engaged in extortion from civilians, private entities, and government officials, besides arms transportation. A.32 caliber pistol with a magazine and eight live ammunition rounds were recovered from him.
