Manipur: Security Forces Recover Explosives, Firearms And Ammunition On Imphal-Churachandpur Route

IMPHAL: Security forces seized a large cache of explosives and firearms during joint operations in Manipur's Churachandpur district on December 24.

Based on specific intelligence about the presence of IEDs, the Assam Rifles under Spear Corps and the Manipur Police carried out a coordinated search operation in the Leisang village area.

The operation resulted in the recovery of 3.6 kilograms of explosives, detonators, cordtex, and other related accessories hidden beneath a bridge on the Imphal-Churachandpur route.

At the same time, comprehensive search and area domination operations were conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of both the hill and valley districts.

In a separate operation in Moljol village, Churachandpur, security forces recovered a variety of weapons, including a .303 rifle with a magazine, an M-16 rifle with a magazine, four country-made SBBL guns, a revolver pistol, and ten rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, security forces conducted intensive search operations and area dominance exercises across Manipur's hill and valley districts on December 23.

During the operations in Lesiang village, Churachandpur District, a significant cache of explosives was recovered. The seized items included 40 meters of cordtex, nine improvised explosive devices (IEDs) equipped with nine detonators, one non-electric commercial detonator, and 30 cm of safety fuse.
