IMPHAL: The Mizo National Front (MNF) issued a press statement demanding the resignation of Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, to which the Manipur government has responded firmly.
In addition to criticising the MNF for its alleged anti-national actions and historical role in stirring dispute, the response emphasises Manipur's strong position against outside meddling in its own affairs.
The Manipur government issued a press release denouncing the Mizo National Front as an anti-national party that criticised the Indian government's attempts to fence its open borders with Myanmar in order to prevent illegal immigration, stop the trafficking of weapons and drugs, and protect its own security and defence.
According to the announcement, the majority of Manipur's narcotics and illegal immigration issues stem from Myanmar. It recalled that in the past, the MNF had led a separatist effort in Assam's Mizo district.
The administration also claimed that illegal immigrants from Myanmar, whose economy was impacted by illegal poppy farming during Chief Minister N. Biren Singh's War on Drugs, are to blame for the current situation in Manipur.
The Mizoram government had similar concerns and had warned Myanmar citizens not to buy land or operate enterprises without license, the MNF was informed.
CM Biren Singh's achievements were praised by the Manipur administration, which said that it has been attempting to bring peace and normalcy back. It emphasised initiatives like aiding more than 60,000 people in relief camps and carrying out operations to retrieve weapons that have been looted.
Previously, in a statement, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh was accused of inaction and power abuse by Krosehnehzova, General Secretary of the Mizo National Front's media and publicity department on Thursday.
