IMPHAL : On Thursday, news emerged regarding death of two leaders of a Manipur based insurgent group. However, the identity of the people who killed them is yet to be ascertained. 

The incident took place in Vangli village in Myanmar on Wednesday. The local tribals of Vangli and Khenman situated in the Indo-Myanmar border on the Indian side confirms that they heard sounds of gunshot at around 2pm on Wednesday. 

The deceased were leaders of the proscribed outfit, UNLF. They have been identified as Yaiphaba and Jirilakpa. As per sources, both the individuals were recovered from a pool of blood in Manipur's Vangli village. 

Sources also claimed that Yaiphaba was the self-styled major of the proscribed UNLF whereas Jirilakpa, the self styled captian of the same group. However, the cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained by the concerned department.

A tripartite agreement was signed by the Manipur government, Centre and the banned outfit, Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF). The insurgent group mostly initiated their task from the state of Manipur.

The accord was signed on 27th of December 2022, Tuesday. In order to fulfill the vision of PM Narendra Modi's insurgence-free Northeast, the Indian administration along with Manipur Government, signed the agreement with the decade old ZUF.

The agreement was signed by the representatives of the insurgent outfit and officials of home ministry and Manipur government. This particular step will eventually give a boost to the peaceful scenario in the state.

The representatives of the proscribed group agreed to give up on violence and cooperate with the democratic and lawful processes of the country. The agreement mentioned proper rehabilitation and relocation of the armed bodies. Moreover, a team to monitor proper implementation of the set rules will be set up by the administration.
