IMPHAL: The Republican Party of India (Athawale) has decided to stage protests across the country to protest against the violence in Manipur.

This decision was taken at a leadership meeting called by the party's National General Secretary, Maheshwar Thounaojam, at New Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi. The meeting was called to discuss the growing crisis in Manipur, emphasizing that it is a national issue.

This rally featured state and national-level presidents along with key leaders representing India's diversified regions of states including Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Sikkim, Daman and Diu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Kerala, and Bihar.

During the meeting, Thounaojam emphasized that the two-year-long unrest in Manipur goes beyond state boundaries. According to him, the conflict arose from the activities of the Kuki groups, which started from neighboring countries and now are present in Nagaland, Assam, and Mizoram. He argued that such a situation calls for urgent national attention because of its larger implications.

Thounaojam further elaborated on the high-level tactics of Kuki militants, including drone attacks with bombs and missiles, which indicated an external hand. He stated that such high-level warfare is a serious threat to the security of other Indian states. The NIA findings indicate that these groups have substantial resources and support from outside, which raises important questions about their objectives and operations.

The lack of effective steps by the national authorities has worsened the fear of Northeast destabilization. Thounaojam called for immediate steps to neutralize the militants to bring back stability.

In the meeting, National President Rajeev Menon challenged the party workers to create awareness of the Manipur crisis all over the country. He suggested mass protests to expose the Kuki militants' activities and compel authorities to take effective action.

Through these protests, the Republican Party of India (Athawale) strives to bring to people's attention that the crisis of Manipur is not simply a regional problem but also one of national significance.
