12 blocks in 21 villages affected during cyclone Fani in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: A total of 12 blocks in 21 villages in the five districts of the State were affected during cyclone Fani that lashed Meghalaya on Saturday, stated a status report of the State Disaster Management Authority.

The 12 affected blocks are Mylliem, Mawlai, Laitkroh and Mawsynram in East Jaintia Hills district; Mawthadraishan in West Khasi Hills district; Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi Hills district; Khliehriat and Sutnga in East Jaintia Hills district; Umsning, Umling, Jirang and Bhoirymbong in Ri-Bhoi district.

“Altogether 14 persons were affected, one person was injured and 17 houses damaged due to heavy rains and cyclone,” the State Disaster Management Authority report said.
