198 contacts of Greenwood marriage guests traced during lockdown in Shillong

Guwahati: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong yesterday said that the lockdown in the Shillong agglomeration had served its purpose as 198 people who came in contact with the Greenwood Resort wedding party guests have been traced during this period.

The Meghalaya government is now of the view that two days of lockdown in Shillong agglomeration has served its primary objective of contact tracing. Tynsong also said that the government last week had made it "abundantly clear" that the two-day lockdown was imposed to track down the contacts of the Greenwood Resort wedding guests.

The names of these 198 people will now be forwarded to the local Dorbar Shnong or the Local COVID Management Committee who would monitor these people since they shall have to undergo 14 days mandatory quarantine. Tynsong appealed these people to quarantine themselves at home and not to mix with the people in the localities or the streets. He also informed that the samples of these contacts have been sent for testing and the results are awaited.

Weighing in on the prevailing COVID-19 situation in Meghalaya, Tynsong said that although the situation has improved, one should not let his/her guard down.
