2 arrested with heroin in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: In continuation of the campaign against the drug menace in Meghalaya, the East Jaintia Hills district police, reacting to credible input regarding transportation of contraband from Silchar to Shillong, intercepted a Maruti Zen vehicle (WB 02 P 2867) at the Umtyra check point and thorough frisking of the two suspects revealed six boxes of suspected heroin expertly hidden below their garments.

The total quantity of heroin recovered is 72 gm and in addition to that 17 strips of the banned Nitrazapam tablets have been seized as well . It was a joint operation of the ANTF and Umtyta Anti-Infiltration check point led by Addditional SP Banraplang Jyrwa along with DSP Jason Myrom .

The arrested have been identified as Heirtami Dkhar, (29) and Rajen Pale, (25).
