SHILLONG: Meghalaya reported a record spike of 231 new COVID-19 positive cases in a single day in the state while 225 patients recovered from the viral infection on Friday.

With 231 new cases, the total COVID-19 cases to 6,033 which include 1,755 active cases, 4,226 persons who have recovered, and 52 deaths.

One more succumbed to the dreaded virus on Friday taking total rate of fatality in the state to 52 deaths.

The new cases were 183 from East Khasi Hills district, 13 from East Jaintia Hills, seven from Ri Bhoi, nine from West Garo Hills, nine from South West Garo Hills, six from South Garo Hills, three from West Khasi Hills and one from East Garo Hills district.

The 225 patients who recovered on Friday include 123 from East Jaintia Hills, 94 from East Khasi, four from West Garo Hills, three from Ri Bhoi district and one from West Khasi Hills district.
