SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Saturday registered 406 new COVID-19 cases and registered one death in the East Khasi Hills (EKH).
Meanwhile, the State also recorded 185 new recovered cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of recovered cases reached 84,643.
The tally of active cases has increased to 2,002, the Health Department said in a bulletin.
The total number of fatalities from COVID-19 infection stands at 1,496 so far.
East Khasi Hills has the highest number of active cases with 1,377. West Khasi Hills has 30 cases, East Garo Hills has 13 cases, West Garo Hills has 277 cases, Ri-Bhoi has 125 cases, West Jaintia Hills has 63 cases, East Jaintia Hills has 39 cases, South West Khasi Hills has 16 cases, South Garo Hills has 17 cases, North Garo Hills has 12 cases, Eastern West Khasi Hills has 18 cases and South West Garo Hills has 15 cases.
The 406 new COVID-19 cases which have been detected are from East Khasi Hills (304), Eastern West Khasi Hills (three), East Jaintia Hills (three), Ri-Bhoi (16), South Garo Hills (two), South West Khasi Hills (one), West Jaintia Hills (14), West Garo Hills (56), North Garo Hills (one) and West Khasi Hills (six).
The 185 recovered cases are from East Khasi Hills (143), Eastern West Khasi Hills (four), Ri-Bhoi (14), South West Khasi Hills (one), West Garo Hills (22) and West Khasi Hills (one).
