Shillong: Six travelers who were traveling from Tura to Shillong in a night bus, died after the bus fell in Ringdi river in Nongchram of Meghalaya at midnight on Wednesday.

Sources said that at least 21 passengers were boarded in the bus.

Soon after the incident the rescue team rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers.

As per the police report, four bodies have been pulled out of the river while two bodies are still trapped inside the bus.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma wrote, "Pained by the unfortunate MTC bus accident at Nongchram Bridge that claimed precious lives. My deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and I wish speedy recovery to those injured".

Earlier in Manipur, after a bomb exploded which is believed to be of World War II-era exploded at Moreh in Manipur's Tengnoupal district, two persons lost their lives on Wednesday.

Police sources said that the deceased identified as Lalsangmuon Gangte, 27 and Lienkhogin Gangte, 23 were digging a pit in their backyard to dump garbage when they accidentally struck the bomb believed to be of World War-II era with their spades.

The official also informed that last year around 122 unexploded bombs shells of WW-II were excavated from the same location. Thangpao Baite, chairman of the area, has urged the government to announce financial relief to the kin of the victim. Earlier in Assam, on September 7th the police arrested the man who had attacked AGP leader Dr Ranjit Deka's residence with a petrol bomb. The man, identified as Mintu Ali, has been accused by the police to be involved in the entire case of attacking Ranjit Deka and his family members. The youth is 24 years old and is a resident of Pathsala town in the district of Balaji. The police have sent Mintu Ali for 6 days remand in their custody.
