6,553 samples tested in Meghalaya; 5,599 prove to be COVID negative

SHILLONG: The government on Tuesday informed that the number of samples sent for testing till date is 6,553 out of which 5,599 persons tested negative and the number of test results awaited is 939.

The government also informed that 727 persons are under institutional quarantine. It also informed that the high risk contacts are 313 and low risk contacts are 1,122.

It may be mentioned that the State has recorded 15 COVID-19 positive cases out of which 12 has recovered, one died and two cases are active.

The State government also informed that it has 1,58,228 personal protective equipment, 6,30,000 3 Ply masks and 2,06,086 N-95 masks.

According to the state government till 2 pm on Tuesday, there were 9936 people from Meghalaya who entered back into the State.

A special train scheduled from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday is leaving for Guwahati carrying about 317 people belonging to Meghalaya. A special train is scheduled from Delhi on Wednesday.

The government said that people stranded in or around Delhi who need to travel on this train are to contact 011-23014341 / 011-23014451/ 011-23015130/ 9968262299.

Meanwhile, a special train from Jaipur, Rajasthan carrying about 150 people from Meghalaya has departed on Tuesday at 3 pm.

A special train from Kerala is scheduled to start on Wednesday.

It will start from Trivandrum Central Station at 6 pm with Ernakulum Junction and Palaghat Junction as additional boarding points `enroute.

It was earlier planned for Tuesday, but was postponed due to non-availability of rakes from Railways.

The State government has also taken up the matter with other states for people of Meghalaya stranded therein, and the details shall be communicated when they are finalized.
